The All Star Room

THE ALL STAR ROOM

Struggling with what, or how, to decorate your little one’s room? The “All Star” theme is a great one as it can be changed out with any sports theme!

Below are links to the items pictured. There are also step-by-step instructions on how to paint the striped wall!

Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase. We’re talkin’ diaper money here, O.K.? Not enough for a new pony! I ONLY recommend items I have personally tried and love.

Regalo Hide Away Extra Long Bed Rail. This bed rail has been great. It was purchased one year ago, and we have not had one issue with it. It was self-explanatory to assemble, and it allows you to tuck it under the box spring and mattress (nice if you have company or need to change the bed sheets). The directions do not recommend using it without a box spring, but it has worked fine for us just putting it on the wooden slats under the mattress. We can not tuck it away using this option, but we will in the future when we get a box spring.

Furniture: Nightstand, Headboard (has a built in reading light!) & Footboard, Dresser

Wall Decor: Blue and Red Star, Baseball Wall Hanging, Red, White and Blue Metal Baskets, Sports Numbers

Bedding: Number Sheet Set by Target

Get This Look – Stripe Wall

The stripes are painted on a wall that is 8 feet high. I wanted a variety of stripes with the largest stripe around the top one-third of the wall. If you have a ceiling height that is taller than 8 feet you may want to add width to each stripe. Or, grab some graph paper and make up your own striped accent wall!

All the following measurements are made from the top of the ceiling down. Use a level to make sure your painters tape is straight.

  • The first stripe meets the ceiling and is 3 inches wide. Measure 3 inches from the ceiling several times along the length of the wall and then connect the markings with painter’s tape.
  • The next red stripe starts 18 ½ inches from the top of the ceiling and is 1 inch wide.
  • Then at 22 inches the third stripe starts, it is 1 ½ inches wide.
  • The large stripe measures at 26½ inches from the ceiling and is 12 inches wide.
  • The second to last stripe starts at 41 ½ inches from the ceiling and is 1 inch wide.
  • The last stripe starts at 58 ½ inches from the ceiling and 1 ½ inches wide.

In total there are 6 stripes and I did two coats of red for each stripe. The tape I used was regular blue painters tape and it bled bad. It was very disappointing! So be prepared to do touch up work. Next time I am going to use Frog Tape, it is green. I have used it in the past with great results. The part that took the longest was measuring and taping! Well worth it though.

PAINT USED: Sherwin Williams Real Red 6868 (flat). Tip: Paint the stripes in flat and the opposite wall color with a sheen, like Eg-shel or Semi-gloss.

I don’t know what it is about pennants, but they take me back to the good ‘ol days! You can usually find vintage pennants at antique stores! This one is from Hobby Lobby and no longer available in stores.

Any type of number sequence or letters always plays into child’s room theme!

One of my favorite things in this room is the area that holds all the books! Since TJ Maxx doesn’t have a website I attached a similar option. Keep in mind I have never used the type I linked, but it’s Target I trust them!
